Learning from the people at Lincoln Hospital in New York (yes, that Lincoln Hospital), how to treat addiction with acupuncture points in the ears.
It’s been pretty amazing so far, and the stories…good god the stories…
I have a whole new perspective on ears. Our ears, like every single fucking organ in our bodies, is a completely fucking amazing thing–sacred tissue on sacred bodies.
If you can not treat yourself well at this point in your life–treat your ears well. Admire them, tell them how beautiful they are. Touch them, get to know them…they are yours and they are sacred.

I hope this isn’t awkward or stalker-y…but now I realize who you are and I totally put needles in your ears today.
The people from Lincoln are….is amazing a good enough word? Listening to their stories has inspired me to think bigger and better about what it means to be a radical and what it means to be a healthcare provider and what it means it even talk about “recovery” as a process. What are we trying to help someone “recover”? My roomate got needled this afternoon and she said she’s never felt more “in her body” before. and wow. what a great way to think about how it feels.
oh, also, to end on an equally awkward and stalkery note and not to make two comments: I was in the clinic one time while your kids were there and sitting across from your daughter with all her pillows and books and not only filled me with joy and cuteness but, I swear, made the energy or something in the room better. As if maybe her unashamed desire for comfort and space helped make everyone around her more willing to let themselves feel good.
