BFP, how can I get ahold of you in a somewhat private way?
I wanted to talk about frequent flyer miles and such for AMC if it’s not too late to get a ticket.
But it seems better as kind of a private conversation.
while on the subject, bcuz i meant to dm you, bfp… i wrote a very disjointed response to this on my private blog, but haven’t been able to add you to view it yet bcuz i need your wp id to add u. so when twitter comes back up, you can dm me, or u have my email & chat too if u prefer… whatever works for you.
I’m very excited for the health & human rights in south LA conference this friday. I’ve been meeting/beginning to work with a lot of health care collaboratives/networks around LA this last year and the most invigorating and joyful work I see is really being done in south LA – around access, folks working together/streamlining the often frustrating referral process. thinking of liveblogging or at least livetweeting the conference for folks.
also I’m excited that the org I work for is working in a real way to take sexual violence/dv/ipv seriously as an issue around reproductive health and real choices/options for women.
On topic, BFP, I met some community acupuncturists in Minnesota 2 weeks ago. I told them I was stopping to check them out because I’d read about it on my favorite blog, and they wanted to know what your URL was. Hope that’s okay…but yeah, you might have a new lurker or two who’re acupuncturists.
good gawd… i mentioned acupuncture to my mom today, saying that several friends have mentioned it helped with their chronic pain, migraines and allergies and she stopped dead still, rolled her eyes, sighed, and said “whatever” then quickly walked away from me…
i am miffed that the hospital where all my doctors are out of now has a “natural healing” section that includes acupuncture and massage, but somehow is never open when i stop by and does not have hours posted anywhere, nor a phone number on any of their stupid brochures.
Social disparities in health are a huge blindspot in all medical fields. Have you checked out the documentary Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? It is amazing and speaks to this question precisely. It is a production of California Newsreel and the website is http://www.unnaturalcauses.org/.
